Art of Hand block printing is one of the ancient forms of printing. It is Indian culture's legacy, pride and its different forms can be found across India. It's well known centers are in Rajasthan, Gujrat, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh.

Process of Block Printing

The process of block printing is a tedious one. The wooden blocks carved in intricate designs require 7-10 days to be prefected. Once the blocks are ready, they are dipped in the colour and then pressed on to the fabric. This is repeated with precision. Post drying the first print, other prints are added. The fabrics are left to dry. The post-printing process sees them being steamed, washed in water, dried again, and lastly, being ironed.
